Sassuolo and Sampdoria could not be separated at the Stadio Citta del Tricolore on Sunday afternoon in Serie A after a 0-0 draw.

It was a dull affair with neither team able to break the deadlock, whilst there was also a shortage of real clear-cut chances with Emiliano Viviano the more active goalkeeper.

Sassuolo

Andrea Consigli – 6 – Concentrated

The Sassuolo goalkeeper wasn’t too busy but when he was called into action he showed some good saves and reactions.

Federico Peluso – 6 – Effective

The full-back dealt with Manolo Gabbiadini well and also got forward on certain occasions.

Luca Antei – 6 – Comfortable

With Samp only playing one forward the defender was the extra man and dealt with any balls into the box effectively.

Francesco Acerbi – 6 – Solid

The centre-back struggled with Stefano Okaka’s strength at first but soon got to grips with him and kept the powerful striker quiet.

Sime Vrsaljko – 6 – Adventurous

The Croat bombed forward countless times but was caught out by Eder a few times at the other end.

Francesco Magnanelli – 6 – Controlling

Captain Magnanelli sprayed the ball about whilst roaming around the centre of the pitch and also had a great effort thwarted by Viviano.

Saphir Taider – 5 – Inaccurate

The Algerian midfielder had a few shots that sailed over the bar and also gave the ball away a few too many times.

Matteo Brighi – 6 – Tireless

The midfielder worked his socks off but missed his teams best chance in the second half when he should have at least hit the target.

Simone Zaza – 5 – Quiet

Zaza could not get it going today despite being in decent form in the early season. It just wasn’t working for him.

Nicola Sansone – 5 – Uninvolved

The striker was quiet but did lay the ball off to substitute Sergio Floccari who had a great chance at the end.

Antonio Floro Flores – 7 – Lively

Probably his team’s best player, the forward got into good positions and had plenty of shots but could not find the net with any of them.

Substitutes

Sergio Floccari – 6 – Impactful

The striker came off the bench and seemingly improved the team’s performance, had a good effort saved by Viviano.

Davide Biondini – N/A

Raman Chibsah – N/A

Sampdoria

Emiliano Viviano – 7 – Impressive

The goalkeeper was by far the busier and made some decent saves especially from Magnanelli’s effort.

Vasco Regini – 6 – Reserved

The left-back didn’t venture forward too much and found it hard against Antonio Floro Flores.

Daniele Gastaldello – 6 – Strong

The captain marked Zaza out of the game and made some crunching tackles to keep Sassuolo out.

Matias Silvestre – 6 – Solid

Made some good tackles and his positional sense was impressive.

Luca De Silvestri – 6 – Hardworking

The full-back made a load of his trademark forward runs whilst also doing his job in defence.

Roberto Soriano – 5 – Complacent

The midfielder gave the ball away sometimes, but also could have made better decisions whilst on the ball.

Angelo Palombo – 6 – Accurate

The midfielder recorded an impressive 91% pass success rate albeit the passes weren’t creating any chances.

Pedro Obiang – 6 – Playmaker

The Spaniard made some decent passes up to Stefano Okaka, one led to their best chance of the match.

Manolo Gabbiadini – 5 – Frustrated

The forward had a really quiet game without creating any chances or having any efforts on goal.

Stefano Okaka – 6 – Powerful

The huge striker shrugged off his marker a few times but in the final third was usually wasteful. Played a nice lay-off pass for the Eder chance.

Eder – 5 – Wasteful

As well as having a good effort going wide of the post, he had a chance where he was one on one and completely fluffed it up.

Gianluca Sansone – N/A

Gonzalo Bergessio – N/A
