AC Milan midfielder Andrea Poli is satisfied with the amount of determination the Diavolo have been demonstrating this season, but believes that more can be done in order to secure better results.

The Rossoneri have drawn with newly promoted teams in their past two matches and the 25-year-old has urged the San Siro outfit to give their all in training and make any necessary improvements ahead of their home meeting with Chievo on Saturday.

Poli spoke to Milan Channel on his birthday on Monday about his team’s recent 2-2 draw with Cesena and the upcoming match with the Flying Donkeys, while also commenting on what could be done to help AC Milan reach their goal of returning to Europe next season.

“I am very happy and I want to give my best birthday wishes to president Silvio Berlusconi as well,” said the former Sampdoria man, who shares a birthday with the Milan chief.

“We had a great first half against Cesena on Sunday, but then we lacked in our second half performance. On Saturday, however, we will try to go all out in this very important match against Chievo.

“The 4-2-3-1 formation has given us positive indications, though we are also good in a 4-3-3 formation. Both are well suited to our features.

“We have a goal for the season, but first we must think on a game to game basis. We want to get points so we can fight for that goal.

“We need to improve, give 100 per cent in training and then reap the rewards on the pitch. We really want to win the three points because we’re coming off of two draws.

“Our ranking is still good, but we could do more. We do not look at the past. However, in these games we have taken the field with spirit and the right determination.

“Now we have this match on Saturday then we can regroup and rest. Meanwhile, we hope to do well against Chievo because it’s a very important game.

“San Siro is our home, as well as the home of the fans. We will prepare to win.”
