Genoa chairman Enrico Preziosi has revealed that he would have refused to sell the Grifone to new Sampdoria chairman Massimo Ferrero.

The film-maker has stepped in to take over the Blucerchiati after Eduardo Garrone stepped down.

However Preziosi, who remains in charge of Sampdoria’s city rivals, expressed his feelings about the deal.

“I would never have sold Genoa to Ferrero,” the Rossoblu chairman revealed to Sky Sport Italia, following the deal that saw the owner of Ferraro Cinema Group and lifetime Sampdoria fan take over the Genoese club.

“I don’t want to judge [Garrone],” explained Preziosi. “but even if [Ferrero] were shown to be the most intelligent man in the world, I would not sell Genoa to certain people.”

Garrone sold Sampdoria after inheriting the club from his father Riccardo Garrone, who acquired the then-Serie B side in 2002.
