PrimaveraThis season’s Primavera kicked off on Saturday with matches played in all three groups.

If you are new to the Primavera it works differently from Serie A and B, as the clubs from both divisions field youth sides.

These 42 teams are divided into three groups of 14 clubs and will play home and home against each other side. Each Group winner and Runner up advance to the Championship, while the next eight highest point finishers from all groups go through two rounds of playoffs to reach the Championship.

In Group A last season’s runners up Torino started off the season well, getting a 4-0 victory over Carpi. Fiorentina are even with the Granata at the top, following a 6-2 victory at Spezia. Pro Vercelli, Genoa, and Juventus were also winners, defeating Modena, Bologna, and Varese respectively. Parma and Virtus Entella played 1-1 while Trapani and Sampdoria finish the round with their match on Saturday.

In Group B, Inter raced to the top of the table following a 7-0 thrashing of Virtus Lanciano. While last year’s Primavera champions Chievo were handed a tough 3-1 defeat to Udinese. Brescia and Pescara started off with wins, as the Biancoazzurri defeated Cesena 2-1 and the Delfini snuck past Verona 1-0. Atalanta and Sassuolo each earned a point in a 2-2 draw and Cittadella and Perugia shared the points as well 1-1. The match between AC Milan and Cagliari has been postponed.

In Group C, Palermo is at the top of the group following a 3-0 win over Frosinone. Other winners were Roma, Catania, Avellino, and Bari. Crotone and Napoli played out a 1-1 draw and the Lazio and Vicenza match has been postponed.
