Alvaro Arbeloa Real MadridReal Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has played down reports of a move to Napoli as he is happy at Los Merengues.

The former Liverpool full-back has been linked with a move to link up with former coach Rafa Benitez at the Stadio San Paolo since the summer, with speculation in recent days suggesting a January move could still be a possibility.

However, speaking after his side’s incredible 8-2 victory at Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, the 31-year-old claimed that he does not want to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, as reported by TuttoNapoli.net.

“On 1st September [after the transfer window closed] many people had to hide [after the speculation] and those who in recent days say that in January I will go will probably have to lower their heads,” he said.

Jose Callejon, Raul Albiol and Gonzalo Higuain all joined the Partenopei from Madrid last summer, fuelling speculation that Arbeloa could be next to follow, but the Spanish international says this is not his intention.

“I have a two-year contract with this club and I could not be happier, I’m at the best club in the world.”
