Fiorentina defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has apologised for his team’s inability to secure a victory over Genoa and feels they should have scored based on all the chances they created on goal.

The Viola ended Sunday’s home match with the Grifone in a goalless draw and the 30-year-old admits that his team could have done better to earn the three points, though he still gives credit to the performance of their opponents.

Rodriguez spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about the result against Genoa and revealed that Fiorentina will now be fully focused on doing well in their Europa League meeting with Guingamp in Florence on Thursday.

“I’m sorry that we ended the game in the way we did, we had at least 10 scoring chances on goal and nothing materialised,” said the Argentine.

“We must also give merit to Genoa who had a great game, but we tried to score in every way.

“Our defence? We feel just as solid as we did last year.

“Our Europa League meeting with Guingamp? We want to win, we want the support of the whole city.”
