Romagnoli – Roma

Roma have publicly confirmed the details of Alessio Romagnoli’s move to Sampdoria.

The 19-year-old defender joined the Blucerchiati on loan on transfer deadline day.

The Giallorossi confirmed in an official statement that Samp have the option to make the deal permanent when the loan deal expires on June 30 2015.

However, Romagnoli’s contract also contains a clause that will allow Roma to re-sign the player and prevent the Genoese club from making the deal permanent should the capital side not wish to lose him.

The initial loan for the player will cost Sampdoria €500,000 and they have the option to make the move permanent for €2m at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Should Samp activate the clause but Roma decide they want to keep him, then the Giallorossi can activate the counter-option in Romagnoli’s contract that permits the Lupi to take the U-21 international back to the Stadio Olimpico for an agreed fee of €750,000.

The young defender made 11 appearances for the Giallorossi during the 2013-14 Serie A season.
