Italy v Netherlands - De RossiItaly midfielder Daniele De Rossi has stated that he would prefer that Lazio president Claudio Lotito was not so close to the national team.

The 31-year-old has started in both of Italy’s two international fixtures under Antonio Conte, including the Azzurri’s 2-0 win against Norway last night.

Although Lotito has been travelling with the team and attending Italy’s matches with FIGC president Carlo Tavecchio, the Roma midfielder would prefer the Lazio president to keep his distance.

“I prefer to have less people as possible around,” De Rossi told Sky Sport Italia.

“They tell me that it is fair that some councillors are there. [There] are 21 and we don’t want all of them to come.”

The Lazio president hit back at De Rossi’s comments, saying that his not attending Italy’s matches just as a councillor.

“I don’t want to make controversy, I can stay there,” Lotito told RAI Sport.

“I am not only a Federal Councillor but [I am] much more [than that].”
