Roma responded to the challenge of Manchester City on Twitter after the English champions laid down a marker ahead of their Champions League clash.
The Premier League side noted that club captain Francesco Totti has never scored in England in a tweet that appears to tempt fate.
The meeting in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday September 30 will be the first time the two sides have met.
The clubs also met at Under-19 level on the same day with Manchester City coming from behind to win 2-1 in the Uefa Youth League.
