Fiorentina defender Facundo Roncaglia has left the club, after his move to Genoa was finalised on Monday night.

The popular Argentinean, a cult hero in Florence for his no nonsense attitude on the field of play, had been expected to leave the Viola for much of the summer.

Confirmation came from the Lega Serie A that the contract for Roncaglia’s move on a one-year loan deal was deposited with time to spare in the mercato.

The deal does include an option to purchase the player outright at the end of his spell at the Marassi should the Grifoni wish to exercise that option and it is believed the fee is in the region of €3 million.

Roncaglia arrived in 2012 from Boca Juniors on a free transfer.
