Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was reportedly involved in a physical altercation outside the team’s hotel on Saturday.

The incident took place near the club’s Bogliasco training ground while Mihajlovic and his team waited on their bus to take them to Reggio Emilia for Sunday’s game against Sassuolo.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Serbian was heavily insulted by a man standing a few yards away from him in the street and decided to challenge the aggressor.

The man then attacked Mihajlovic, aiming a punch which only partially connected, breaking the tactician’s sunglasses.

In defending himself the 45-year-old coach reportedly began to get the better of his opponent before players stepped in to break up the incident.

The Blucerchiati have already filed a police complaint, as has Mihajlovic, and a motive for the attack is not yet known.

Sampdoria take on Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday afternoon in Serie A.
