Sampdoria are hoping to seal a move for Lecce goalkeeper Massimiliano Benassi before the transfer window closes.

The club want to bring in the experienced stopper as cover for first choice keepers Emiliano Viviano, Sergio Romero and Junior da Costa. Doubts still remain about the long term future of Argentine number one Romero.

Tuttomercatoweb.com report the player is in Milan to sign a contract with the Blucerchiati and could seal the deal shortly.

They are also showing an interest in Parma’s Algerian full back Djamel Mesbah.

Benassi, 32 is currently on loan at Juve Stabia in Serie B from his parent club Lecce.
