Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has confirmed that he is eager to start with the construction of their new stadium.

The Italian wants to start as soon as possible, as he has already contacted the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano.

“This project is a dream, let’s see what will happen, but I will talk with the mayor,” Ferrero told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I hope we can soon cut the ribbon, to start the work.

“The project is visible during a boat show, there will be a new arena plus a bike path.

“I believe, it is fate that the mayor of Genoa is called Doria, he will be remembered for the next 150 years.”

Current gound, the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, is used by both Sampdoria and Genoa for home matches.
