Maurizio Sarri - EmpoliEmpoli coach Maurizio Sarri believes the Azzurri ‘blacked out for five minutes’ after a 2-2 draw with Cesena on Saturday evening at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

The Tuscan side went 2-0 down in the space of five minutes with goals from Guido Marilungo and Gregoire Defrei for the home side but dominated most of the play and pulled the game around with strikes from Francesco Tavano and Daniele Rugani.

“I’ve seen us dominate for over 85 minutes but had a blackout for five minutes,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“It was a penalty for a foul on Simone Verdi, so I don’t know why [Pierpaolo] Bisoli is complaining.

“I told Rugani he should have scored three goals, but he put in a good performance.”

Empoli face high flying AC Milan next on Tuesday at home while Cesena face a trip to champions Juventus.
