Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi could face a severe punishment after his straight red card during his side’s 7-0 thrashing to Inter.

The winger, co-owned with Juventus, was caught throwing his elbow into Nerazzurri centre-back Juan Jesus’s face, and was immediately ordered off the pitch.

It is not the first time that Berardi has been caught using his elbow to endanger an opponent. The 20-year-old was sent off against Parma last season after lashing out at Cristian Molinaro.

This repeat offence means that the authorities are ready to hand the player an extended ban, according to Gazzetta di Modena.

The Italy starlet scored 16 Serie A goals last season for Sassuolo.
