Round four brought a bonus mid week round of Serie A games for calcio lovers.

Juventus and Roma maintained their 100 percent starts to the season, albeit the Giallorossi thanks to a last minute goal.

Inter scored a couple of stunning goals to win 2-0 whilst AC Milan and Napoli were both involved in high scoring draws against Empoli and Palermo respectivley.

The formation chosen this week is the tried and trusted 4-3-3. The midfield had a plenty of technical ability and there are a couple of talented young Italians in the front three.

Do you agree with the selections? Please leave a comment if you feel we have overlooked anyone.

.Orestis Karnezis – Udinese

Retained his place in the Udinese goal following the continued absence of Simone Scuffet due to injury. The Greek keeper has been solid and reliable following his promotion to the first eleven. Kept Lazio at bay for long periods in the Thursday evening clash, particularly in the second half as the Roman side laid siege to his goal.

Ignazio Abate – AC Milan

The right back appears be enjoying a new lease of life, at least in the opening matches of the season. He delivered two pinpoint assists in the 2-2 draw with Empoli, making that four assists already for the season. Was a regular offensive threat, providing width down the right flank.

Angelo Ogbonna – Juventus

The former Torino player  is yet to fully establish himself following his move to Juventus the previous summer but against Cesena he showed glimpses of his potential. Was strong and quick when marking and kept his concentration for the full ninety minutes, something he has not always done.

Team of the Week 4Alessio Romagnoli – Sampdoria

Kept things relatively solid at the back for Sampdoria and forged a promising partnership with the experienced Daniele Gastaldello. Was also a threat going forward as he created one and scored another goal. Is on loan from Roma.

Dodo – Inter

The Brazilian continues his solid start to life as a Nerazzurri player. Made several trademark attacking runs down the left wing and defended ably when called upon. Appears to have improved upon his passing and crossing compared to last season.

Hernanes – Inter

Responded to the ignominy of being dropped by playing with an increased determination and vigour when coming on for the last twenty five minutes of the match against Atalanta. Is still not in top form but showed signs he is getting his confidence back. Scored a late free kick with a rocket shot that flew into the top corner with minimal back lift.

Arturo Vidal – Juventus

The Chilean may not be completley match fit following his recent knee injury but he was still the standout midfielder on the pitch in the match with Cesena. Showed no signs of fatigue as he made numerous lung busting runs beyond his strikers and scored a brace, the first of which was a penalty.

Miralem Pjanic – Roma

Dubbed by Francesco Totti as Roma’s ‘little prince’ after his man of the match performance against Parma. Almost single handily dragged his team to what could turn out to be a crucial three points. Oozed class every time he had the ball at his feet and scored a dramatic last minute free kick.

Simone Verdi – Empoli

Looked determined to impress against AC Milan, the side that still co-owns him. Beat Daniele Bonera for pace on several occasions and showed some nimble footwork in periods of the game.

Andrea Belotti – Palermo

The Italy under 21 international announced himself on the Serie A stage with a all action display against Napoli. Was on the score sheet twice-his first goals in the league and also hit the woodwork with a long range effort.

Fernando Torres – AC Milan

El Nino made an instant impact on his first start for the Rossoneri. Netted with a superbly taken headed goal and was generally lively throughout. Whilst it’s safe to assume he won’t reach the levels of his Liverpool hey day, on this showing he proved he can certainly be a useful addition to the side.
