Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone paid respect to Juventus ahead of his side’s Champions League meeting with the Scudetto holders on Wednesday.

The Argentine coach retuned to the bench on Saturday after a six game ban on September 27 for the win over Sevilla but there is pressure on the Spanish champions to defeat the Old Lady after they kicked off the Champions League with an away loss to Olympiacos.

“They’re [Juventus] a difficult team, a club with a way of being and they work in a way that inspires great respect,” said Simeone according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Tactically, I do not expect to face a tightly packed Juve side that is ready to hit us on the break as this is not a side that plays on the counterattack.

“Rather, they press you high up the pitch to win the ball back quickly and then give it to [Carlos] Tevez and [Fernando] Llorente, two players who are very effective in and around the area.”

The ex-Inter and Lazio player also said the game will be like a final for his team, although every game must be treated as if it is a final by his players:

“Yes it’s a final, just like last Saturday against Sevilla and then like next Saturday’s game against Valencia and then the one with Espanyol.”
