Palermo stopper Stefano Sorrentino was happy to help out as his late intervention helped hold Inter to a 1-1 at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Sorrentino was at fault as the Nerazzurri’s Mateo Kovacic cancelled out Fabio Vazquez 3rd minute opener.  The 35-year-old goalkeeper though redeemed himself with an acrobatic save from a Pablo Osvaldo to deny Inter a late winner and secure an important point.

“I think the save was very important,” Sorrentino told tuttomercatoweb.com.

“I managed to do just enough to win a vital point against a team full of champions.  We are happy with the result.”

The former Chievo keeper’s last minute heroics stopped Osvaldo adding to the brace he plundered in Inter’s 7-0 thrashing of Sassuolo last week.  The Southampton loanee reacted by giving Sorrentino a hug, but what did he say?

“He said a few naughty words to me,” Sorrentino laughed, “but really he complimented me and I was glad to hear them.

“We know the league is very tough, but we have two points on the board and if we play well than we can always be confident of gaining more.”

Palermo unbeaten at the Stadio Renzo Barbera after two 1-1 draws which leaves them 16th in the table and face Napoli at the San Paulo on Wednesday night.
