Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni was disappointed that his side had a goal disallowed but encouraged by his side’s second half performance in Saturday night’s 2-0 reverse away to Juventus.

Goals from Carlos Tevez and Claudio Marchisio either side of half time decided the match. Croatian defender Igor Bubnjic had a goal cancelled out for offside in the second half with the score at 1-0.

“It’s a pity about the goal being disallowed for [the difference of] a few centimetres,” Stramaccioni said to Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“Udinese were doing better than them before they made it 2-0. We also created many chances on corners and dead balls situations.”

He also stated that their game plan had been to initially defend and then attack the Bianconeri in the second half.

“The aim was to contain the impact of Juventus at the start of the game and then unleash our speed in the restart.

“The substitution of [Luis] Muriel? I preferred to bring on Bruno Fernandes so we could go with a Christmas tree formation.”

The former Inter coach did concede that once the Old Lady made it 2-0 they could have added to the score line further.

“After the second goal we faded and Juventus deserved to capitalize even further.”

Stramaccioni is in his first year as Udinese coach, having had a spell at Inter in 2012-13.
