Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has revealed that Alvaro Gonzalez will remain with the Aquilotti for now after failing to come to an agreement with Parma.

The 29-year-old midfielder was heavily linked with a season-long loan move to the Crociati in the final days of the summer transfer window, but will now be staying with the Biancocelesti after the Gialloblu turned their interest elsewhere on Monday.

Tare spoke to reporters on Tuesday about Gonzalez’s transfer situation while also summing up Lazio’s dealings in the market this summer.

“We have not sold any of those who were said to be sold,” said the sporting director.

“There was something for Gonzalez, but unfortunately in the end an agreement was not able to be found between the player and Parma because the Gialloblu decided to create other situations.

“The young people we were expected to deal with have been arranged to come, there is still some market open, so we’re looking to arrange another pair of youngsters to come in the next few days.

“I’m happy for so many reasons. Many good things have been done and we have renewed players who were expected to leave since the start of the summer, firstly Antonio Candreva.

“All of the purchases that we had wanted to make we’ve now completed. This team will have a great season and will fight until the end for every objective.”
