Fiorentina came from a goal behind to earn a well deserved 1-1 draw away to Torino in an entertaining encounter.

Both goals came in the second half, with Khouma Babacar cancelling out Fabio Quagliarella’s opener.

The Viola were on the front foot and attacked from the start.

They nearly scored in the first minute when Manuel Pasqual pulled a cross back for Borja Valero, who flashed a dangerous cross shot across the face of goal.

Mati Fernandez unleashed a sharp snap shot in the sixteenth minute which stung the palm of Francois Gillet in the Torino goal

The Viola had the ball in the net midwat through the opening period, with a set piece move from the training ground, however Khouma Babacar had handballed before poking the ball home.

Torino had their first real chance mid way through the first half, when Quagliarella unleashed a effort from 25 yards. Michah Richards nearly netted at the other end straight after, but he couldn’t get enough purchase on the ball after a Fernandez pass.

It should have been 1-0 to the Viola on the half hour but Babacar fired straight at the keeper when through on goal.  The visitors were increasing the pressure and Jasmin Kurtic let fly with a long range effort.

Sanchez Mino volleyed just wide moments later, following some nice approach play from El Kaddouri.

Babacar was again denied by Gillet at half time approached and Neto had to be at his best to deny Quagliarella straight after when the former Juventus man raced through on the counter.

Fiorentina were having plenty of possession in the beginning of the second half but were struggling to create any clear cut chances.

It was Torino who were the more dangerous on the counter and Matteo Darmian really should scored but he top poked the ball horribly wide on the hour mark. The home side did eventually put one of their chances away when Quagliarella controlled and fired into the corner after some nice interplay down the right flank.

Vincenzo Montella brought on David Pizarro and Italy under 21 international Federico Bernardeschi in an attempt to get an equalizer and it was the youngster who made an immediate impact.

After he played a perfect slide rule ball for Babacar, the young striker calmly rounded the keeper to score. It was his first goal of the season.

After the goal both teams pressed for the winner as the game became increasingly stretched and both sides had to be content with a point each.
