Torino welcome Hellas Verona to the Stadio Olimpico di Torino on Sunday night at 20:45 local time in week three of Serie A.

The Granata looking for their first win of the season will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the away defeat to Sampdoria. Whilst Verona will be looking to build upon a fortuitous 2-1 win over Palermo.

Torino are still to score after two games in Serie A this season, and will be looking towards two veteran strikers for inspiration in the shape of Fabio Quagliarella and Amauri, to give their season a kick start, as they sit just one place out of the relegation zone in this embryonic table.

Verona, who sit comfortably in seventh position, have their own veteran striker to call upon in Luca Toni, who got off the mark in the 2-1 win over Palermo, but will need to improve their performance in order to gain anything from this match. Striker Javier Saviola is in line to make his first start for the club since his summer arrival.

Last season’s encounters between the teams produce eight goals, a 2-2 draw in Turin followed by a 3-1 win for Torino when they visited the Stadio Bentegodi, as the two sides met in Serie A for the first time in eleven seasons.

This season will be a test for Giampiero Ventura and his Torino squad as they look to balance the rigors of a domestic campaign, with their Europa League excursions and, by the coach’s own admission, will need to show more desire than they did against Sampdoria on Sunday.

Andrea Mandorlini on the other hand was pleased to get a win despite the poor performance against Palermo and is looking towards this game to see improvement from his team.
