As Roma embark on their return to Champions League football, evergreen star Francesco Totti has revealed his joy at playing in the prestigious competition once again.

Roma last featured in the competition in the 2010/2011 campaign where they reached the round of 16, and they will face an injury-ravaged CSKA Moscow at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening.

“Tomorrow’s game is important, and it is rewarding for Roma to return in the Champions League. Roma must play these games every year,” Totti told the press.

“I feel lucky. Staying here was the right choice.

“I feel fortunate because I believe in myself. I am happy with what I have done and with what I am doing. I hope to give so much for this shirt.”

Rudi Garcia is set to recall the likes of Totti, Juan Iturbe and Gervinho to the starting eleven, while Daniele De Rossi is suspended for the match.

With group heavyweights in Manchester City and Bayern Munich to come, Roma will be looking to get off to a positive start in their first match against the Russian giants.
