Simone Scuffet’s bid to reclaim the Udinese number one jersey has taken another blow, after tests revealed the youngster faces a month on the sidelines due to injury.

The 18 year old Italian started the season as second fiddle to Greek custodian Orestis Karnezis, and now faces another challenge in his bid to convince new boss Andrea Stramaccioni to give him the starting spot.

Il Messaggero Veneto reports that Scuffet suffered a sprained ankle whilst on international duty with the Italian under 19’s.

Tests have shown that Scuffet will have to sit out for around three to four weeks on the sideline as a result.

Last season Scuffet made 18 appearances in all competitions for Udinese.
