Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski is set to join Empoli on a season-long loan before the end of the transfer window.

The Polish playmaker played only 137 minutes over 10 substitute appearances for the Zebrette during the 2013/14 campaign, and is looking to further his development by playing more regularly this season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Tuscan club have secured a loan for the 20-year-old with the switch set to be confirmed ahead of the 2300 CET deadline on Monday.

Zielinski’s agent Patrick Mork confirmed in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb that his client was “close to reaching an agreement” with an unnamed Serie A club which is expected to be Empoli.

Zielinski made his Serie A debut on 2 December 2012 replacing Antonio Di Natale in the 91st minute of a 4-1 win against Cagliari.

Empoli had also been close to signing Fiorentina’s Polish midfielder Rafal Wolski on-loan before he opted for Bari.
