Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti believes that a successful run in the Europa League can help the Biscione get back to dominating in Europe and Italy.

The 41-year-old, who was part of the Nerazzurri side that won the treble during the 2009-10 season under Jose Mourinho, is confident that the San Siro outfit will begin showing the necessary progress over time and feels they have the ability to be a top team again in the near future.

Zanetti spoke to Tuttosport ahead of Inter’s Europa League meeting with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on Thursday about the importance of doing well in the competition and advised the club to be patient in their hunt for victory.

“The Europa League can give us prestige,” said the Argentine. “It is the first step in our mission to return to winning everything in Italy and Europe.

“The history of the treble proves that the greatest victories are built with time.”
