AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata struck a determined tone on the heels of the Rossonero’s 0-1 defeat on Saturday night to Juventus at the San Siro.

The 27-year old AC Milan defender played a solid, if uneven match, standing up to the Bianconeri onslaught by Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente before the Argentine found the winner with just under 20 minutes remaining.

“I’m unhappy about the result. We played back on our heels as Juventus attacked for the entire 90 minutes,” Zapata told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“With a squad like Juventus, sooner or later they’re going to find the goal. I’d prefer to play a bit higher [up the pitch] and play more one-on-one.”

Zapata has found consistent playing time under new coach Filippo Inzaghi, appearing in all three of AC Milan’s matches this season after only playing in roughly half of the Rossoneri’s Serie A matches the last two seasons.
