The Italian Football Federation [FIGC] has banned an 11-year-old boy for repeated racist slurs during a youth match between Prato and Maliseti.

The boy, who is in the Prato youth team, repeatedly shouted racist insults at the referee from the bench during the game on October 18 which Prato won 2-0.

The referee included the incident in his report, with the player receiving a red card during the game, and the authorities took the decision to ban the boy until January 22.

The incident will open further questions about racism in the Italian game, Kevin Prince Boateng walked off the pitch in a friendly against Pro Patria and claimed he left Milan after growing tired of the racist insults.

Most recently their was accusations of racist chanting aimed at Milan’s Sulley Muntari by Verona fans during last Sunday’s Serie A clash, which has led to the Curva Nord at the Bentigodi being closed for one game, as well as the Mastini receiving a €50,000 fine.
