AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate has revealed that he hopes to remain with the Diavolo until the end of his professional playing career.
The 27-year-old, whose current contract with the Rossoneri is set to expire in June 2015, has insisted that he has no desire to play anywhere else until his future retirement, but admits that he would be open to moving abroad if he were ever forced to leave the San Siro outfit.
Abate spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about his plans for the future and his love for the Milan shirt, while also commenting on the possibility of him having to leave the Italian giants if he isn’t offered a contract extension.
“My priority is to stay at this club,” said the Italian international, who came up through the AC Milan youth system and, despite being loaned out several times, has been owned by the club since making his professional debut in 2003.
“This is my home and I will wait until the end of the season to see what happens. I want to stay here and finish my career in a Milan shirt.
“I cannot see myself playing for another club. Were I to leave the Rossoneri, I would go abroad.”
