AC Milan fullback Ignazio Abate is reportedly ready to renew his contract with the Serie A giants, which is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The pacey Italian international has been in scintillating form this season, grabbing four assists in only six appearances for Milan.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, the player, and his agent Mino Raiola met for dinner Tuesday evening at popular restaurant “Il Consolare” to discuss terms and conditions over a possible contract renewal.

Abate himself is reportedly ready to sign, with the arrival of new coach Filippo Inzaghi persuading the 27 year old to stay put.

While Abate and his agent have requested an increase in the player’s salary from €1.8 million to €2.5m per season, Galliani will presumably offer an increased salary to about €2m per season.

The Milan youth product has been a mainstay in the Rossoneri starting lineup since 2011, and has made over 140 appearances with the club.
