Acerbi - SassuoloSassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi believes that his side have turned the corner after enduring a difficult start to the new season.

The Neroverdi currently occupy 13th place in the  Serie A standings having won their previous two matches, while they also earned a creditable draw against the champions Juventus.

“We are pleased with what we have done as we did not start the season well, but we have started to learn from our mistakes,” the 26 year old told the tikitaka program on Italia 1.

“We have put in all our determination and results are proving us right.

“The game against Juve? I was expecting something more from them in the second half in terms of persistence, but they could not outdo the merits of our own team. Juventus remain a very strong team.”

Acerbi then reflected on his time spent at AC Milan where he struggled for game time.

“Milan? The blame lies with me. Looking back in truth I could have done much more.”

Sassuolo will be looking to continue their good run of results on Sunday when they visit another of Acerbi’s former sides in Chievo.
