Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has hit out at former Inter owner Massimo Moratti, stating that the latter’s love for the Nerazzurri pushed him to accept the 2006 Scudetto even though it was not won by the Milan club.

The 69-year-old stepped down from his role as honourary president at Inter on Thursday, and Agnelli noted that Moratti’s passion pushed him to accept the title in light of the Calciopoli ruling even though the Nerazzurri finished third that season.

“His love for Inter was enormous, so much so that it pushed him to accept a Scudetto that was not won,” he stated at a shareholder’s meeting on Friday.

“We are losing a great person of Italian football.”

Juventus were stripped of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 titles, with the latter title handed to the Nerazzurri.

The Bianconeri continue to count the titles even though they are not recognized by the FIGC, UEFA or FIFA.
