Manolo Gabbiadini Sampdoria 1 Genoa 0Andrea Berta, the man responsible for Atletico Madrid’s transfer dealings, was scouting players in Serie A over the weekend.

Last season’s Champions League runners-up have already signed Alessio Cerci from Torino over the summer, and Berta is thought to have specified three targets from the fixtures he saw.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Berta attended the Derby Della Lanterna in order to see Manolo Gabbiadini, who settled the game with a wonderful free-kick.

However, the report indicates that he also attended Napoli’s game with Sassuolo earlier in the day, in order to keep tabs on long-term target Jose Callejon, who scored the only goal of that match.

The report suggests that Berta also wanted to take the opportunity to see the Neroverdi’s international striker Simone Zaza who has made such an impressive start to the season.

Atletico continue this season’s Champions League campaign on Wednesday night, when Juventus travel to Spain themselves.
