Milan Badelj felt that Fiorentina showed their true character during their 1-0 away win over Greek side PAOK Salonika in the Europa League.
The midfielder, a summer signing from Hamburger SV, played the full 90 minutes for the Viola in what was their third win in the competition this season.
“We had a good game against a strong team like PAOK,” he told Radio Blu.
“It is always very difficult to play in an environment like this but we showed character. It was a great reaction after the defeat against Lazio at the weekend.”
When asked about the forthcoming game this weekend against Milan, Badelj called for unity.
”Milan are a great team and it will be tough but we want to get the most from the match,” he said. “It’s important we play as a team and not as individuals.”
Firoentina currently sit top of Group K in the Europa League, having scored seven goals in their three victories in the competition so far.
