After Sassuolo’s draw with Juventus over the weekend, Simone Zaza has spoken of his desire to partner Mario Balotelli in the future after his recent introduction to the Italian national side.
Whilst speaking to the press, Zaza voiced his opinion on the omission of Balotelli from the Azzurri and also his views on the current form of his Sassuolo side.
“That draw against Juventus should only be a starting point, it should give us an injection of confidence,” said Zaza in an interview with Gazzetta di Parma.
“The performance was perfect. We have shown what we can do and now the goal is continue like this.”
He then continued, insisting that he would relish the chance to play with Balotelli if he is picked once again for the Azzurri.
“The national team without Balotelli? In the Italian side there is space for strong players and Mario is one of those”
“I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting him but I hope to cross him soon.
“My goal at the moment is remain in the national team and keep playing.”
Zaza has made two appearances for the Azzurri, scoring once.
