Lazio defender Dusan Basta believes the capital club have the attributes to be pushing for a European spot again this season.
The 30-year-old Serbian believes that fellow countryman Filip Djordjevic’s ability to find his feet quickly in Serie A has been key, though he believes the entire Biancocelesti side has enough quality.
“It was only a matter of time, the quality of our game was evident, and now come the results,” Basta told LaLazioSiamoNoi.it.
“We have a team equipped for the Europa League and for us it is essential that Filip has found the goal and reached the top of his form.
“I know how much he wanted to score, especially in a situation like this where there is so much competition. Behind him is an ace in Miroslav Klose.
“When you have two scorers of this level it is much easier to achieve your goals. Honestly, I cannot wait to get back on the field, every game that I see the greater the longing [to be involved].
“I’m just waiting for permission to start running with maximum intensity. I do not feel pain and if all goes well I’ll be available for Denmark [for Serbia].”
