Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is looking forward to his side’s fixture away to Atletico Madrid as the Bianconeri look to continue their strong start to the season.

The 36-year-old also said that the Old Lady are aiming to make it to at least the quarter-finals as they did in the 2012-13 season when they were eliminated by Bayern Munich as they look to bounce back from the dissapointment of not getting out of the group in 2013-14.

“I think that it will be a beautiful game between two traditional sides in contrast with the modern game,” said Buffon at the pre-match press conference.

“We are very enthusiastic and want to know how far we can go and this game will give an indication to us players.”

The Italy goalkeeper also gave his thoughts on what Atletico achieved last season

“It could have been suprising four or five years ago but in the last few years they’ve won the Europa League and La Liga.

“Now they are a squad of international quality and all the players can put in great performances.

“It will be very important for us not to concede from set-pieces.”

Buffon also said that Juventus hope to do better this season after the disappointment of the last season’s elimination at the hands of Galatasaray.

“We want to pick up again from where we left against Bayern, in the quarter-finals but it will depend on the draw also.

“We have to play well. If the team manages to defend well and still express themselves well then 0-0 wouldn’t be a bad result.”
