Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini believes the Bianconeri repeated mistakes they made against Sassuolo during their 1-0 loss to Olympiacos in Champions League action.

The Italian international believes the Old Lady clattered to defeat due to a poor first half, in which the squad allowed the opposition to approach on the counter as a result of continual turnovers.

He told Sport Mediaset that despite the several missed opportunities, the Bianconeri had vastly improved in the second half but just could not manage to score.

“We had so many opportunities but the goal seemed to actually be haunted, but we did badly in the first half,” he said.

“They [Olympiakos] worried us on the counter on our turnovers, but as we knew the night before, we shouldn’t make these mistakes.

“We definitely did not deserve to lose and we should not find ourselves in this position,” he said.

The 30-year-old stated that while errors overshadowed their performance, the Bianconeri are not doomed as they merited more from their previous clash with Atletico Madrid.

“In Madrid we played out the match with character and between the two teams, Juventus deserved more,” he continued.

“Today we did not hold the pitch well and we need to change the tactics.”
