Bruno Conti RomaRoma’s head of the youth sector Bruno Conti believes the Giallorossi’s 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich will serve as a future lesson for the side.

The 59-year-old made 304 appearances for the Romans and admitted that Rudi Garcia’s men could not handle the pressure placed on them ahead of the match against the Germans.

Conti stated that once the team has recovered from the loss, the team’s quality will emerge and despite the big gap between the teams, the Giallorossi are continually growing as a club.

“Maybe the pressure and the full stadium betrayed them a bit,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Yet I see the positive side, it will serve as a lesson for the future.

“Once all of the players have regrouped, we will travel to Munich to show what the real Roma is.

“There is no denying it, Bayern have a group of players who have been playing together for years,” he continued.

“A growth process is being implemented at Roma, with a great tactical coaching staff and a squad of young and strong players.

“I’m sure that will give great satisfaction,” he said.

The former Roma champion is adamant that the Giallorossi can still qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

“Absolutely. One must interpret the games in the right way and Roma in the first two matches showed that they could compete well,” Conti continued.

“Of course in international games, no one gifts you anything but the match between Manchester City and CSKA [Moscow] demonstrates that Roma has what it takes to go through.”
