Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi confesses that the Giallorossi need to improve, following their 7-1 demolition at the hands of Bayern Munich.

The German side ran riot in Rome on Tuesday night as they found themselves with a five goal lead within 35 minutes of play.

“The result is striking,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“This defeat makes us realize that there is still a long way to go.

“It’s an unfortunate result for our fans, but the season is long and potentially rewarding.”

He went on to comment that this result would act as an extra incentive when Roma make the trip to Bavaria in a fortnight.

“It was evident on the pitch that there is a technical difference between the sides, and they are stronger,” he said.

“But I do not feel there is this much of a difference.

“I think in 15 days we will do better, there is definite motivation after the goals we conceded tonight.”

Roma had picked up four points from their previous two games in the Champions League, having beaten CSKA Moscow and drawing away at Manchester City.
