Sampdoria defender Lorenzo De Silvestri believes that Sampdoria are improving following their 0-0 draw against Roma.

The Blucerchiati could have taken all three points if Stefano Okaka had tucked away a guilt-edged chance, though they did have goalkeeper Sergio Romero to thank after his point-blank save from Alessandro Florenzi kept the home side in the game.

“We should be proud of how we did today,” De Silvestri told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am also proud of how we have done this season in general. We are improving in every game.

“We have some difficult fixtures coming up but with this team I believe we can take on anyone. Our goal is to stay in the top half of the table.”

De Silvestri went on to discuss the pitch at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and the impact of Mihajlovic at the club.

“The pitch was not in good condition,” he admitted. “There was mud everywhere and it made it difficult for us to play.

“Mihajlovic is a modern coach who brings innovative methods to us.

“He gives us motivation and binds the group together, I believe you can see this on the pitch.”
