Luigi Di Biagio ItalyItaly U-21 coach Gigi Di Biagio was not fully satisfied with his team’s performance against Slovakia, despite qualifying for Euro 2015 after a 3-1 win at the Mapei Stadium.

The Azzurini went 2-0 up after 16 minutes but failed to kill the game off in good time, despite playing against 10-men for the majority of the match after Ondrej Duda was sent off, as Slovakia fought back in the second half.

“In the first half we did everything well, attacking and pressing high but we made it complicated for ourselves,” Di Biagio told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes and must be mentally stronger.

“If we want to get to the top we need to improve mentally.

“Overall, I am pleased with the progress we have made during my time as coach and reaching qualification is an important milestone for us.”
