Father of Udinese striker passes away

The father of Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale, Salvatore, has passed away at the age of 68.

The former painter passed away on Tuesday night.

A statement issued by Udinese’s official website expressed their condolences and solidarity with Di Natale during this trying time.

“Gianpaolo Pozzo, his family, the managers, the team and all the Udinese Calcio employees would like to express their deepest condolences to Toto.

“Udinese Calcio has moved to mourning and will huddle in a warm embrace for the captain and his family in this time of sorrow for the loss of his dear father.”

Salvatore and his wife Giovanna brought up five children in their Naples home; three boys Antonio, Paolo and Carmine, and two girls Michela and Anna.

Now 36, Antonio has been enjoying a rich vein of form at the start of the season having scored four goals in his first five appearances. The Zebrette are due to face Cesena on Sunday.
