FIFA president Sepp Blatter has written to Carlo Tavecchio thanking the newly appointed Italian soccer federation president for his proposal to accelerate the introduction of video replays, and FIFA’s head man will forward the motion to the International Board.

Tavecchio made good on his earlier promise to be at the forefront of fundamental changes to the game and promote the introduction of video technology by offering to use Italian football as a proving ground for technological advancements designed to aid match officials.

According to ANSA, Blatter wrote, “Thanks for your proposal to experiment with technology, it’s interesting and I’ll bring it to the attention of the international board.”

The International Board is the governing body which determines the laws of the game. FIFA has 50% of the voting power on the board while the remainder falls to the combined football associations of the United Kingdom, a nod to the legacy of the sport’s origins.
