Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez is not expected back in action for another couple of weeks after been out injured for the past month.

Gomez suffered a hamstring injury four weeks ago against Atalanta which came as a huge blow to the Viola after fellow striker Giuseppe Rossi was also ruled out until after Christmas, leaving youngster Khouma Babacar to lead the line for the Tuscans.

According to La Nazione, the Gomez will join his teammates next Monday to resume training but is not expected to see some first team action until Fiorentina face Sampdoria away on the 2 November.

Alternatively he could be held back by the medical staff until the following Thursday which will see the Viola back in Europa League at home to PAOK Salonkia.

Gomez has only made 19 appearances scoring four goals in all competitions since making his big money move from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013.
