Roma attacker Alessandro Florenzi believes his side must improve in front of goal following their 0-0 draw against Sampdoria on Saturday night.

The youngster started the game in midfield and was moved into a more advanced position late in the game – seeing a late header superbly saved by Sergio Romero in goal.

He lamented to Rai Sport afterwards: “It it too bad about that save from Romero, or we could have maybe won the game which would have been important as so few teams come here and win.

“We have firmly put the Bayern Munich defeat behind us in the Champions League because we know the difference between the two competitions: in Italy we want to prove what we can do after last year while in Europe we are trying to impress..

“But first and foremost, we should have been more clinical in front of goal.”

Of his own display, the Italy international said he was pleased to play in different areas and answered criticism when it was put to him.

“I work hard on my technique all the time and ignore criticism but I am happy with playing in different positions too as it means I can be more useful to the team.”
