Prior to the match against Sampdoria at the weekend, Roma coach Rudi Garcia insisted the defeat against Bayern Munich will not effect his team.

In the Frenchman’s pre match press conference, he talked about various subjects heading into this weekend’s match and the devastating 7-1 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

“Tuesday’s loss will not erase anything that we’ve done this season, a good start to Serie A and the Champions League,” he emphasisied. “We have always been up to the task and we have to start from here.”

Garcia firstly spoke about his side’s embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Bayern on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stage.

“To erase the defeat serves a great victory for Saturday,” he continued. “On Tuesday we saw how superior Bayern were to Roma, but it is a mistake to forget about it.

“The only way to recover is to immediately return back to the steering wheel.

“The second half performance was that of a proud Roma. We scored in the first 25 minutes of the half but we also had chances to make it a less heavy defeat.”

The Giallorossi coach then went on to speak about the upcoming Serie A match with Sampdoria.

“Sampdoria are a club that have made a very good start to the season, winning almost always at home and the derby,” the tactician said. “We know they are a good team but we need to focus on ourselves.

“Obviously the result is always important and I say the result will be a consequence of how we play the match. Tomorrow will be a difficult trip because Sampdoria are third in the table and the table doesn’t lie.”
