Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has spoken ahead of his team’s encounter against lowly Empoli on Monday night, stating it will be difficult to be motivated given the recent floods that have devastated the city.

The city of Genoa was recently battered by torrential rain, causing flooding across the north western part of the town.

Speaking ahead of the match Gasperini revealed the floods have affected his side’s preparation as well as clarifying the injury cloud surrounding Juraj Kucka.

“The flood has upset the normalcy of all. What has happened is serious and involved many families,” Gasperini said.

“It was not a normal week and the city is trying, struggling to return to live, to move, to rebuild.

“Kucka has a problem with the patellar ligament now, he is in a race against the clock”.
