Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed his euphoria following Genoa’s last minute winner against Serie A champions Juventus.

The Grifone looked set to hold on to a point at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris following a spell of intense pressure from the Old Lady, until Alessandro Matri found Luca Antonini in the box to finish from close range in injury time.

“I think the game was very intense, a real battle, although it was a fair game,” the former Inter coach told Rai Sport following the conclusion of the match.

“I can not comment on the clash between [Aleandro] Rosi and [Giorgio] Chiellini but it appeared to be accidental with a lot of action in the penalty area.

“This is surely one of the best days of my career, especially when you consider the intensity of the match and the quality of the opposition.

“We defeated a very strong team, fighting blow by blow and not giving Juve an inch.

“In the end we were rewarded as we were very good at defending.”

The result sees Genoa move into seventh place in the Serie A standings.
