Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has reiterated his stance that he feels the club’s fans are too critical, as they face Chievo on Sunday.

Genoa currently sit ninth in the Serie A table, with nine points, and have been criticised by some of the club’s fan base with Gasperini recently citing the Genoa fans as being too negative.

“I know I said uncomfortable things, but they weren’t wrong,” Gasperini told the press.

“The environment must be restored to be about Genoa and the players should be protected because they are good guys with great room for improvement and I do not think we are in an unsafe spot in the table.”

Gasperini then spoke on his team’s upcoming fixture with Chievo insisting his side will take all three points.

“Chievo are a good team, the change in coach can give them a boost. Despite this, we must, and want, to go home with a good result.

“In the midfield, Kucka should return to play in this role. Greco is growing and we are looking to enhance his characteristics.”
